TV Aerial Installation in Minehead, West Somerset

Today we installed a communal aerial on a property in Minehead town centre. The property was a single storey, so was quite low down and behind many tall houses.

We weren’t able to receive the Woodcombe relay or Carhampton relay as there were buildings in the way, and as a result we couldn’t achieve a very good signal with all the channels from Mendip – the main transmitter which covers most of Somerset – so we had to install a second aerial to provide reception of the Wenvoe transmitter, across the water in South Wales near Cardiff.

Using a large high-gain aerial and smaller aerial and a special diplexer to combine them we were able to achieve all channels with a reliable signal in all flats. The auto tune facility on most modern Freeview TVs will allow the tenants to choose West region instead of Wales, giving them the correct channel numbers.
