DAB is a relatively new technology compared to FM analogue radio, and gives a greater choice of stations in most parts of the UK.
In North Devon, with a well installed DAB outdoor aerial, there are many stations you can receive, depending on where you live. For example, in Barnstaple with a DAB digital radio, it is possible to receive:
- All BBC National stations you receive on FM, with the added bonus of BBC Radio 6 Music, BBC Asian Network, BBC Radio 1Xtra, BBC Radio 5 Live in crystal clear quality.
- Also you will receive the Digital One multiplex, with stations such as Classic FM, Talksport, KISS, Absolute Radio, LBC, Radio X, Smooth.
- The local multiplex, Devon, provides BBC Radio Devon, Heart, Capital, The Voice from transmitters in Braunton, Ilfracombe, Huntshaw Cross, Barnstaple and Okehampton.
In various other parts of North Devon and West Somerset, it is possible to receive some other multiplexes out of the region, in addition to the above:
